Why Pilates? With Special Guest Blogger Stephanie Emenecker

When someone asks me what I love about Pilates I have a hard time pinning down one answer.  Attending Pilates classes for the last 9 years through two pregnancies, and teaching for the past year has offered a strength and awareness of the body that few other fitness activities have been able to provide.  The interesting thing is that you don’t have to be super fit or limber or even very coordinated to create a stronger body… just incorporate Pilates into your week.  I hear time and again, “Once I get fit I will try out a class.”  But the thing is that this is the perfect activity to get you moving safely and reducing your risk for injury.  It can work for any one.

Weak core strength is one of the major root causes of back and neck pain.  Pilates focuses in on those core muscles and digs deep to strengthen from the inside out, tapping into the deep stabilizers that are often overlooked in the typical workout.  Through simple, isolated movements you can create a more balanced, flexible body that will be less prone to injury!  At Schubbe Resch we can help you carry these principles into your other activities and see how they strengthen your everyday movement, bridging your workout with your hobbies and work.

We have options for you too!  We offer private Reformer sessions to work the full spectrum of core and stabilizer engagement.  The Reformer is a piece of Pilates equipment that uses spring resistance to engage the arms and legs as well as the core.  Particularly useful for those clients interested in strengthening and balancing muscles in the knees, legs, arms, and shoulders as well as their core.  While private sessions offer the most individual attention, others may prefer the motivation of a group setting.  If that is your preference come join one of our various morning or evening group mat classes.

There are many places you can find Pilates classes so why choose Schubbe Resch?  Our instructors are STOTTR Certified providing top-of-the-line Pilates instruction.  All classes at Schubbe Resch are small, relaxed, and individualized with a focus on safety and form.  As an instructor I am not there to get my own workout in but to help the clients get the most out of that hour.  So whether it is your goal to improve your posture, get more out of your current fitness routine, or take the pain out of that wicked golf swing come try a class or private Reformer session at Schubbe Resch.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, there are many physiological and hormonal changes that occur in preparation for creating an environment for a developing baby.   A protruding abdomen, increased low back
curvature, and postural adaptations often result in misaligned spine or joints.

What are the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy?

  • Reducing the time of labor and delivery
  • Relieving back, neck or joint pain
  • Controlling symptoms of nausea
  • Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
  • Prevent a potential cesarean section

What about chiropractic & breech deliveries?

When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby, called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis makes it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery.

The Webster Technique, having an 82% success rate, is a specific adjustment that enables chiropractors to establish balance in the pelvis and reduce undue stress to the uterus and supporting ligaments. This balanced state in the pelvis makes it easier for a breech baby to turn naturally.  Optimal baby positioning at the time of birth also eliminates the potential for difficult labor and therefore results in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and baby.  Dr. Lara Klein at our Neenah office is certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in the Webster Technique.  She recently delivered a baby boy in February.

Chiropractic care can help make the birthing experience more safe and natural for both mom and baby!
