Chiropractic Care for Runners

Runners Turning to Chiropractors for Care

Chiropractic treatment is a growing trend among the running community.  Runners are benefitting from chiropractic to help them through the rigorous training season, preparation for an upcoming race and speeding the recovery of an injury.

Chiropractic During the Training Season

During the long miles of training, runners may look to chiropractic to maintain healthy joint and muscle function.  Chiropractors will often perform a head to toe evaluation looking for imbalances between joint mobility and muscular balance.  If a chiropractor detects a loss of motion in a spinal joint or an extremity, that loss of motion can put additional strain on another joint or muscle.  Correcting that loss of motion with a chiropractic adjustment can help prevent that eventual overuse of other structures, therefore preventing an injury.

Chiropractic to Enhance Your Performance

Pre-race chiropractic care has also become quite popular.  When your joints have proper range of motion, muscles are able to perform at their highest level.  Like fine-tuning a race car, pre-race chiropractic adjustments give an athlete a winning edge.

Chiropractic for Sports Injuries

When runners are saddled with an injury, most are desperate to find a quick solution before hard-earned fitness levels slip away.  The benefits of seeing a sports orientated chiropractor go far beyond the adjustment.  Many chiropractors are well trained in using the latest sports medicine treatment methods.  The efficiency of seeing a chiropractor may also come down to “one stop shopping”.  A chiropractor can evaluate and initiate treatment on your very first visit.  Other health care options may start with a doctor visit, followed by a referral to a specialist and then another referral to physical therapy.  A delay in treatment can affect your fitness level which can affect future performance.

Runners are benefitting from chiropractic in many phases of their training. Whether its injury prevention, pre-race preparation or injury management, chiropractic has found its place with the running community.
All of the chiropractors at Schubbe Resch have experience treating athletes and can quickly diagnose your injury and find a treatment plan to get you back on the road quickly.   Our services include physical therapy, Kinesio Taping, Graston Technique, ART, nutritional counseling, and one -on -one wellness training.
